Turner Parent Club Meeting Minutes

Called to Order at 6:07 pm

In attendance:

Chris H., Dan P., Jo L., Michelle B., Laurie T., Sarah F., Melissa C., Kelly K.,

Denise, Holli and Jackie were there, but working on carnival games.

We received a check for Box Tops in the amount of $604.70. Nice job Angie for facilitating this. Keep up the great work.

Treasury Report - See Attached

Movie Night - decided to put on hold until after carnival

Looking for a new babysitter. Sarah will check with Debbie LeDay.

Carnival -

Chris - operations
Joe - Silent Auctions total $2,536.50 to-date. Still needs to follow-up on 45ish companies on donations.
*Meet Tuesday, the week of carnival, to put together silent auction baskets.

City of Turner newsletter (I believe Dan said he would check with them and Stayton Mail about putting in an advertisement for the carnival).

Turner Elementary Parent Club Meeting

December 12, 2011

Budget Report:

Sarah Federico gave a treasury report update for the month of November and discussed anticipated expenses for the remainder of the school year:

Opera $170.00

Author visit in March $750.00

Emily for popcorn supplies $140.00

Math Incentive program $300.00

Kindergarten graduation $200.00

5^th grade field trip

4^th grade field trip $200.00

Teacher Appreciation $300.00

Bouncy house- field trip day $250.00

Swim day $500.00

Thank Yous $150.00

Total: $2,960.00

Sound System:

Mr. Peterson discussed the bids that were collected for a sound system addition to the Turner Elementary gym. There was a bid from Rose City in Portland, and the pricing raged between $3,800- 4,000

The Turner staff all agreed on wanting a sound system.

The TPC talked about how a sound system would be a good investment, and beneficial to the children. Music would create a more positive and motivating atmosphere during physical education. The sound system would have a better quality projection for assemblies, movie nights, and classroom performances.

Motion put forth and passed to fund $4600 to purchase a sound system for the Turner Elementary School gym.

Math Incentive:

This is a program designed for kids to learn their basic math skills in a certain amount of time. The program motivates learning addition, subtraction and multiplication facts; the kids will be tested and awarded. The incentive this year is a visit to the University of Oregon arena on March 1, 2012. Participants will watch a Ducks basketball game, have a photo taken with the duck and tour the campus.

Scholarships: $15.00 per person. Mr. Peterson is working on trying to get the cost down to $10.00 dollars.

Previous incentives have been: Blazer basketball and Winter Hawks hockey game

Travis Newton invited Turner Elementary to assist and participate in the Annual Corn Festival run in August 2012 from 8:00-10:00 AM

There will be a need for 8 volunteers. This event funds the Cascade track team, Mr. Newton is offering to share the profits from the event with Turner Elementary.
